Sol
"When you look at the stars and the galaxy, you feel that you are not just from any particular piece of land, but from the solar system."
— Kalpana Chawla, Pre-Solar Astronaut
Sol, Also known as The Solar System is the gravitationally bound system of the Sun and the objects that orbit it. The Solar System formed 4.7 billion years ago from the gravitational collapse of a giant interstellar molecular cloud. The vast majority (99.86%) of the system's mass is in the Sun, with most of the remaining mass contained in the planet Jupiter. The four inner system planets—Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars—are terrestrial planets, being composed primarily of rock and metal. The four giant planets of the outer system are substantially larger and more massive than the terrestrials. The two largest, Jupiter and Saturn, are gas giants, being composed mainly of hydrogen and helium; the next two, Uranus and Neptune, are ice giants, being composed mostly of volatile substances with relatively high melting points compared with hydrogen and helium, such as water, ammonia, and methane. All eight planets have nearly circular orbits that lie near the plane of Earth's orbit, called the ecliptic.
Notable Locations
Being the home system of humanity, a number of planets have become a notable landmark for the species.
Earth
Homeplanet of humanity, now formally referred to as terrans. They hang out and stuff, it's chill. People here live in ever-shifting cultures, which is pretty based.

History
First contact
Before Humanity had built the first known vessels to be able to safely traverse the turbulent swathes of Bluespace around the Sol system (known as the Lepiton Storm to most), the powers that would soon join together to form the Solar Confederation built massive generational cruisers meant to travel on one-way journeys to distant stars.
These cruisers, traveling through Realspace at sub-light speeds, were nevertheless crucial to humanity’s discovery of Bluespace and development of Bluespace-capable vessels. The SCG Odysseus in particular is famous for modifying its engines and developing a prototype drive module to return home (on an extremely treacherous voyage) to Sol within the century, something thought to be impossible at the time by Humanity.
Other vessels were not so lucky. Many vessels were never seen again, drifting in space as navigation became increasingly harder past the limits of Sol. The records of these generational ships predate the founding of SolGov and standardized archival, resulting in much of the information on these cruisers to be lost to time.
Founding of NanoTrasen
turns out those Human fellas like money and bureaucracy as much as they like bombing people. i'm sure this company will remain a reasonable size and never do anything morally objectionable and oh dear there it goes.
Relations
NanoTrasen is in the mars, like, there it is.
