"Kid, with what this ship can do? You won't need any weaponry. The most you'll need is maybe a particularly strong crewman, some pepperspray, and a sense for when to close up shop, turn heel and run. No one's going to want to start shit when they've got all the cold beer and fresh steak they could ever need. And ice cream? Fresh produce? You're guaranteed to not go out of business, at minimum you can make the cost of the ship back! ..oh, about the weapons-"
— An anonymous manager, when asked about the security measures of the Sunskipper.

Introduction

The Sunskipper-class is a specialized culinary ship flying under no factional banners. It arrived in the frontier right after the Boyardee-class has been discontinued.

The Sunskipper is known for it's well-equipped bar and kitchen areas, as well as a highly exclusive dining hall. The botany section on board allows the ship to be self-sufficient when it comes to ingredients, and it's unique solar-charged batteries allow for it power-wise.

This ship is focused on roleplay with various guests that you may meet along your way.

List of standard equipment and features:

  • A fully equipped kitchen for producing many different kinds of meals.
  • A botany area that allows the kitchen to be self-sufficient.
  • A solar panel setup for generating power, as well as an emergency PACMAN generator.
  • A classy and spacious dining hall, where guests can comfortably sit down and enjoy their meals.
  • A fully stocked bar that grants a lot of roleplay potential.
  • A lobby area where guests wait for a table. Inside, there is also a blank plaque the manager can fill out with his fountain pen.
  • A subshuttle dock, that allows to have guests even in deep space.
  • A wideband relay intercom, a fax machine and a holopad, all of which can be used to advertise yourself in the sector and attract guests.
  • A first aid kit that can be found in the bathroom, in case anyone gets hurt.

Gameplay

The Manager - Logistics

Manager is responsible for handling finances, giving tasks to the rest of the crew and, most importantly, advertisement.
If people don't know you exist, they won't stop for a meal. On the bridge and in the neighbouring office you can find paper, a copying machine, a holopad, a fax machine, a newscaster, and a wideband relay. You can make flyers, invitation letters, maybe call people directly - there is many options to make your presence known!
The finances shouldn't be overlooked either - you will be one setting prices on your food, creating menus, writing bills etc. Remember! Making profit in some form is the overall goal of your round.

Cook and Bartender - The Food-Making Process

You will focus on making food and drinks for guests to enjoy.
First things first, you should team up with your Manager to set up a menu. This will significantly reduce the chaos after the guests arrive and reduce the botany workload..
For the food-making itself, you can attempt to stock up on food ahead of time, or try to make it fresh whenever a guest arrives.
As for the Bartender, be aware that the Sunskipper does NOT have drink dispensers. You will have to rely on your booze-o-mat, as well as botany, for the ingredients you may need.

Waiter and Bartender - The Service

You will be constantly spending time with the guests. Make sure to show off your good side, treat them well and be generally pleasant to be around. Your job will depend on it!
While no guests are in the restaurant, you can focus on other tasks. For example, you can clean the ship, set up tables, help in the kitchen, wait for new guests in the lobby, or maybe just take a break. Note that your manager may make that choice for you.

Description

The Dwayne is one of the older classes of ships commonly seen on the Frontier, and one of the few such classes that doesn’t also carry a reputation for nightmarish conditions or high accident rates. Originally conceived of as a “mothership” for Nanotrasen mining shuttles that could enable long-duration mining missions at minimal cost, severe budget overruns and issues with the mining shuttle docking system left Nanotrasen with a massive number of mostly-completed hulls upon the project’s cancellation. These hulls were then quickly refurbished and sold on the civilian market, where they proved an immediate success on the Frontier. Contemporary Dwaynes can typically be found carrying a variety of mining equipment and extensive modifications unique to their captains. Recently-available aftermarket modifications have solved the Dwayne’s longstanding shuttle dock issues, allowing modern Dwaynes to finally serve their original design purpose, provided the captain is able to source a shuttle.
